Boys' basketball stat leaders for '21-'22

Statistics from the 2021-22 boys’ basketball season for the Carrington Cardinals have been released.

This past year, the Cards finished with a 11-12 record, and advanced to the Region 3 Tournament first round. There, they fell to Linton-HMB by a score of 53-49.

Leading the way for the Cardinal boys was senior Lucas Hendrickson’s 16.5 points per game, and he was also the best rebounder with an average of 5.7 boards. He shot a team-best 58.7 percent from the field, and led the Cards from the line with a 77.5% conversion rate.

Sophomore Grady Shipman led the team in both steals per game (3.5) and assists (3.2). And, while the team did not record a great amount of blocks, Shipman was the standard-bearer there too, with 0.4 per contest.

Perimeter shooting was led by junior Hudson Topp with 33 three-pointers (27.5% from the arc), while freshman Josh Bickett followed close behind with 30 treys, but was best by percentage at 32.3%.

As a team, Carrington shot 46.1 percent from the field, scoring 53.1 points per contest while giving up 51.6. They averaged 28.6 rebounds, 12.1 assists and 9.9 steals.

Free-throw percentages for the team were a decent 66.2 percent.
