Josiah Scott leans ahead to try and get the best finish possible at the tape in the 4x200-meter relay, as Langdon/Edmore/Munich's Zach Rostvet does the same. Scott and his teammates finished fifth in the event.
Jenna Larson placed third in the girls' 400-meter dash, and will compete in that event at the state meet as well as pole vault and high jump.
Having qualified in four events coming into the postseason, the Griggs/Midkota Titan track team got five more via means of top-three placement at the North East Region Track Meet in Mayville Saturday, May 21.
New to the state roster included boys throwing specialist Lane Kautzman, taking first in the shot put (43' 10 1/2") and second in the discus (126'5"). The other individual event qualifier was senior Jenna Larson, who came in third in the 400-meter dash in 1:02.82.
Two boys relays also made the state field. Josiah Scott, Gavin Nelson, Mark Sammons and Wayland Sabinash got second in the 4x400 (3:43.25), and the latter three were also part of the runner-up 4x800 team who clocked 8:46.59 with Eli Larson.
G-M had three girls and seven boys entered into the state meet at the MDU Resources Community Bowl May 26-28.
Jenna Larson competed in high jump and pole vault along with the 400, and Asia Becherl and Kaylee Johnson are both in the girls shot put field after qualifying for the meet by standard previously. The full boys contingent qualified at the North East Region meet.
