Langdon routs 25's in non-league play

Carrington American Legion Post 25 added a game not originally on the schedule for Wednesday, June 28, when they played the Langdon Red Sox at American Legion Field in Langdon.

It wasn't a pretty result for the Redbirds, as they surrendered seven runs in the fourth inning and eventually dropped the nine-inning contest to Post 98 by 10-run rule, 13-2.

The 'Sox were powered by starter Gage Goodman's arm and the aluminum of Mason Romfo. Goodman threw a seven-inning complete game, allowing seven hits and two earned runs while striking out 10, and Romfo had three hits in five trips to the plate with three RBIs.

The losing pitcher for Post 25 was Grady Shipman, throwing four innings. He would be relieved by Hudson Schmitz, who tossed the final three in defeat.

Carrington (4-3) took on New Rockford Post 30 at City Park last Wednesday, July 5. A full recap of that game will appear in the July 17 edition of the Independent.
