    The season started with snow, the melt and a few more rainstorms, but the Carrington track teams are hitting their stride at the right time. At the South Central Region Meet in Hazen May 21, the Cardinal girls took home another regional championship with 163 points, and the boys finished fourth, scoring 83.     One year in the books for Carrington softball came to an end at the Region 2 Tournament in Mayville Saturday, May 21. The fifth-seeded Cardinals and first-year Head Coach Sara Laib fell to the Langdon/Edmore/Munich Cardinals at Jerome Berg Field at MSU, 16-3, to conclude with a 2-8 mark for the 2022 spring.     It was kind of hard to believe, but the Region 3 Baseball Tournament at City Park May 23-25 represented the first home games all season for the Carrington Cardinals in the physical sense.     Midkota/Dakota Prairie/Lakota/Griggs Co. Central finished a season of ups and downs with a win and two losses at the Region 3 Baseball Tournament in Carrington. Midkota, the fourth seed entering play, lost in the first round of play to South Border, 13-5. That result put them in a loser-out contest last Monday against the SNR Black Sox.     In what is widely considered to be the toughest region of Class B golf in the state of North Dakota, players have to bring their individual game to have much hope of earning state qualification.     Having qualified in four events coming into the postseason, the Griggs/Midkota Titan track team got five more via means of top-three placement at the North East Region Track Meet in Mayville Saturday, May 21.
